About John
John Perine is a director, actor, playwright, educator, and ice cream fanatic from Franklin, Tennessee.
Across the board, John is excited about pieces of theatre that bring the focus back to the ancient art of storytelling. He believes that due to the innate human desire to speak to other people about our experiences, theatre has survived for as long as it has, and he believes that it is part of his calling as a theatre artist to bring the theme of the power of storytelling to the foreground of the field so that this art form can continue to grow and flourish. His work is highly theatrical, visually striking, and emotionally stirring.
A graduate of the MFA in Theatre for Youth at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and BFA in Theatre for Youth at Samford University, John has developed a passion for passing on his love for theatre to future generations by inspiring young minds to engage with problems in creative ways and by emphasizing the importance of play in everyday life.

John is constantly inspired by the imaginative capacity of young people, and longs for an age when adults can look at life through the same wonder-filled eyes, and he hopes that his art can help guide his audiences toward that. Therefore, though his background is in theatre for youth, John hopes to excite and challenge audiences of all ages and inspire conversations among generations.
Outside of the theater, John enjoys reading a good book (favorites: Tell Me How to Be by Neel Patel & On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong), crying over movies (favorites: About Time, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Everything Everywhere All At Once), and he dreams of the day when he finally gets the nerve to audition for Survivor.
